Welcome to Maxwell's Tour South Australia.

    RIVERLAND

A holiday in the Riverland is a holiday in the sunshine. The long days of bright light ripen the vistas of stone fruit and citrus and draw the sweetness from the grape. Sunshine brings the golfers out to play on a balmy winter’s day.

    RIVER TOWN STYLE

From Blanchetown to Paringa, you’ll find 300kms of curving river shores, teeming with bird life. Whether you drive along the river, or cruise the mighty waterway in a houseboat, you’ll find yourself relaxing into a holiday lifestyle.

A stroll around Blanchetown will give you a view of the lock and weir system. At Morgan, you can trace the history of what was once South Australia’s largest inland port by walking the heritage trail and visiting the sites of the old trading days at the Station Master’s Residence, railway turntable and original station. Then take a tour of the oldest operating paddle steamer in South Australia, the PS Mayflower.

There are more than a million citrus trees around Waikerie. The town’s name comes from the Aboriginal word meaning “many wings” and there are still thousands of birds to be seen there. You’ll see what they see when you take a glider flight over the river.

Join other water sport lovers at Barmera, on the famed Lake Bonney. When you’ve swum, skied, windsurfed or boated yourself to a standstill, take yourself off to a winery or sit back and enjoy the country music at the Riverland Country Music Festival held in June every year.

Hire a houseboat and keep it to yourself or share it with friends, touring up and down the river. Stop when you want to, or move on and sleep in at the same time.
